This unit introduces students to the practice and theory of creative writing in our contemporary world. It explores fiction and creative non-fiction forms; introduces students to the concepts of what creative writing is, being a writer, and 'writing across the curriculum'; and develops some basic creative and professional writing strategies and skills. It will give students the opportunity to experiment and practise with different forms of writing and in different registers for a variety of audiences, to develop interests and talents. Students will be encouraged to develop their writer's eye and to keep a writing journal. The unit will introduce students to the professional field of writing and publishing, including market opportunities, and to legal and ethical responsibilities. This unit is co-taught with Introduction to Creative Writing G.
